Thing no one told me about Divorce

That it will be so, so, SO hard to be the ‘bigger person’ when things your ex says make their way back to you.  Not talking bad about the other parent will be hardest thing you have to do.  Your kids don’t want to upset you and they don’t want to betray the other parent. No one, I mean NO ONE, wins when we trash talk our ex’s.  It damages the kids. I’m not saying I was perfect, there were defiantly times when I lost my cool and said things I shouldn’t have.  But there were defiantly point is for you to try.  Don’t let trash talk be your default reaction when the topic of your ex comes up.  
And don’t be the bitter person in public that everytime someone mentions your ex, you launch into a diatribe about how awful they are. No good comes from it and it makes you look bad. 

Even in the best of divorces. 

That when your X changes plans and it’s a simpler solution, it still stings because it means you have less time w your kids- even just by an hour- or that solution means you may not get to see one of your kids on that day.
